1907 Indian Head Penny|1907 Penny-Highest Mintage In the Series

Welcome to the inaugural post of The Indian Cent Store blog. Today's post will focus on the 1907 Indian Head Penny.

The 1907 penny has the highest mintage of the Indian Head Penny Series at 108,137,143 907 coins. As a result the 1907 Indian Penny is a very inexpensive coin that should be affordable for most collectors in higher grade. Even attractive, high grade coins with great detail can be purchased at very reasonable prices.

1907 was also the last year that the Indian Penny was minted solely in the Philadelphia mint. In 1908 & 1909, the San Francisco Mint began minting some coins with the S mint mark, the only 2 dates in the series to have a mint mark.

The 1907 Indian Penny will range in price from about $1.50 in good condition to a high of about $155 in Mint State 65. A very nice coin in MS60 to MS64 could be purchased in the $40-$80 range. Look for sharply struck coins that do not look shiny or polished. Shiny does not necessarily mean more valuable. Sometimes these coins are cleaned & this process will make the coin look grainy. A high grade Indian Penny will look very sharp & crisp, with no fuzziness, only sharp detail.
